I've been eyeing to try this shop after I've dined in their mother restaurant 'Ikkousha Ramen' located at JY Square Mall, Lahug, Cebu. I loved my dining experience at Ikkousha because the broth was not too overly satiating for me and all the other key ramen factors were on point. 99 Ramen is Ikkousha's 'affordable' sibling and this (for me) is a good business strategy because more people could have a taste of what authentic Japanese ramen should be.
After the seminar I attended at USJ-R Main, I made my way to Elizabeth Mall and found 99 Ramen at the food court.
I lined up and was truly happy at how reasonable the prices were.
I ordered their 'Black' Ramen (99 php) and Fried Gyoza (50 php) and asked for 'Kaedama' or extra noodles. Unfortunately, they don't offer it so I had to content myself with their regular serving.
To cut everything short, it was the teuly a right decision to eat at 99 Ramen. Here are some of the things that I really loved about it:
The broth was on point
The noodles were firm
The chashu was tender and generous (2 slices)
The fried gyoza was phenomenal - it was really flavorful; crunchy on the outside, soft and delicious on the inside
Condiments - I love condiments and I made sure to add pickled radish, chopped garlic, pepper, and a lot of Rayu oil (Chili oil) in my ramen
I loved my lunch and I'm happy I wouldn't to spend more just to have my ramen fix. We will surely meet again the next time I visit Cebu, 99 Ramen. 🍜
