If I am to choose between coffee or tea, I'd definitely go for coffee... no doubt! I am not an expert on coffee but I'd really like to taste the differences among coffee variants. The Good Cup Coffee Company is one of the newly-opened coffee places in Cebu. Recently, their barista got the title as the Philippine Brewers Cup Champion of 2019. They also pride themselves in holding workshops on the art and science of coffee. These clearly shows their dedication in the craft that they do. And since I was in 'Sugbu,' I knew I had to pay them a visit.
I told the staff that I'm more into black coffee and asked for his recommendation. He told me to go for their Ethiopia Guji (145 php). This is probably the best they have, so I ordered it.
It was a 'pour over' coffee and was served in a very classy container. It had a card containing information about the kind of coffee it was.
As what I've said earlier, I'm no coffee connosieur. But as what I could taste, it was tangy and fruity - a taste that's really different from the usual coffee I always have.
What I can really appreciate about it is that it wasn't as strong and acidic as usual brewed coffees are. It really had a 'clean and delicate finish' as what the company says. The price isn't bad as well. Price-wise, their pricing is almost in the same range as Starbuck's... but I think their coffee is better. Starbuck's coffee is too acidic (at least for me).
When I get a chance to go back to Cebu, I'd like to try their Americano. They have the 'Brazil Cerrado' and the 'Brazil Yellow Bourbon'. I'm quite intrigued about their taste profile in comparison to Ethiopia Guji. ☕
