No road trip would be complete without a food trip. That's why in this post, I'd like to share the food I enjoyed during my recent solo ride to Bacolod.
Pableo's Place (Mabinay):
This was where I had breakfast during the first day. I've been seeing a lot of this place in Facebook recently due to its IG-worthy structures - most of their structures are made from container vans. Also, the overall ambience is homey and well though of. They have a wide selection of food items but I opted for a burger (55php) and brewed (coffee) sknce I wanted a light meal. Overall, I love the place and the food.
21 Restaurant (Bacolod)
Upon arriving in City of Smiles, I took my lunch at this restaurant. It's pretty much a classy restaurant that's why I could take snapshots since I felt shy due to its high-end atmosphere. Anyway, I ordered what I was craving for - Batchoy. Their take on this Filipino noodle dish is quite popular and I knew I had to try it. I had their Super Batchoy (120php), plus egg (15php) and a bottle of beer (65php). To be honest, the batchoy was nothing out of the ordinary. I was expecting something more but it really didn't appeal much to my taste.
Nenas Rose, Manukan Country (Bacolod)
For dinner, I decided to have it another popular food destination in Bacolod - Manukan Country. From the many chicken places aligning the street, I chose to go to Nenas Rose because it received good reviews from Google. The place is far from fancy but it made up for good food. I ordered their Combo meal - Chicken, Garlic Rice, and bottled water (130php) and an additional piece of chicken (80php). The chicken was served hot off the grill and the garlic rice was a substantial amount (probably 2 cups in regular servings of other food places). The chicken was well-seasoned, juicy, and tender. With chicken oil drizzled on the rice, everything tasted heavenly. I was really happy I consulted Google.
Andrew's Diner:
Coming back from Bacolod, I stopped by this place for lunch. It's more of a typical 'carinderia' but the place is nice. They serve lechon every Sunday but I didn't opt for it since I wanted a healthy meal after having too much fatty dishes the day before. I got Pipino Salad (20php), Ampalaya with egg (20php), Lumpia Shanghai (20php), and a cup of rice (10php). The servings were big and could feed two people. If I've only known sooner, I would've order only one viand. Good thing they're all healthy dishes and so I had no problem consuming all of it. I highly recommend this for travellers. This is a very budget-friendly place to eat.
Visiting these places were a lot of fun and my food cravings were satisfied. I hope I'd get a chance to visit these places for a second time and try their other food offerings. 😋
